Last Train Out Arrives Right On Schedule!

We are pleased to announce that a song Nancy Beaudette co-wrote with Jim and Lynna Woosley will be released on August 4th on their new CD, “Heart and Soul, Blood and Bone”. This exceptional CD is the latest installment from this husband-wife duo. The songwriting, musical creativity, guest artists and performances of these original songs is refreshing and powerful.

The inspiration for the song “Last Train Out” came from Lynna’s memories of her mother Elsie. She took the train many times during her youth, and later in life when she fell ill with Alzheimer’s, would ask if it was time for the train. She lost her battle in 2013 but her memory lives on in this song.

Jim and Lynna’s 2014 release, “The Road That Brings You Home” garnered top placement on bluegrass, americana and folk radio all across the US and Canada, and “Heart and Soul, Blood and Bone” is destined to have no less impact on the airwaves and in collectors libraries.

Moonlit Pond Promotions will welcome Canadian singer songwriter Shawna Caspi to Lunenburg, MA on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 7:30 pm for a fingerstyle guitar workshop. We met Shawna a couple of years ago at SERFA (South East Regional Folk Alliance Conference) near Ashville, NC, and loved her warm, cheerful presence and uber talent. We’re thrilled that she will be extending her spring U.S. tour to include a workshop for the musical community here in Worcester County. “I’ve been a fan of Beaudette’s music for a few years now but I’d yet to see her live until this April 23 concert. I had a feeling the show would be special; her latest album South Branch Road is exquisite, but I didn’t know how far it would exceed my expectations.”

“The cultural immersion kicked into high gear when The Kelly Girls took the stage in the second half. The four-piece Celtic band, of which Beaudette is a part along with Christine Hatch, Aisling Keating and Theresa Gerene, performed songs that traversed centuries, generations and even ancestry.

Their set was richly layered with historical significance and a captivating approachability. They opened strong, with their tight harmonies giving way to infectious fiddle-drenched instrumentation.”

A Fairy Tale Life? A Musical Premier!

The world premier of “A Fairy Tale Life? A Musical” was held at Luther Burbank Middle School in Lancaster, MA on Friday, March 11, 2016, to a full house and jubilant cast and crew.

Award winning Canadian singer and songwriter, Nancy Beaudette, and writer and playwright, Paula Castner, have combined their talents to produce a whimsical play about teenage angst and the role of choices. Ebullient, thoughtful songs and embellished, realistic characters make for an entertaining amalgamation.

Four high school students – Josh, Marissa, Brian, and Kelly – wrestle with dating, making friends, desires versus limitations, and self-esteem. All the while, the Fairy Godmother has brought the Evil Queen to watch the teenage dramas unfold as part of the Evil Queen’s rehabilitation for putting Snow White to sleep. Josh, Marissa, Brian, and Kelly wish their lives could match the fairy tales they grew up listening to, and the Evil Queen blames Snow White for all her problems. How all five come to learn lessons about living will regale audiences of all ages.

New England’s Best Kept Secret in Country Music

Jackman looks to fire up her career opening for Darius Rucker in New Hampshire later this year.

Shanna Jackman is not the traditional country musician. Born, raised and still residing in New England, Jackman’s roots are in the North but her soul is in the South.

Jackman, recently featured in National Country Review for a concert review, talks about how her career has developed.

As a reserve police officer, Jackman started singing in front of crowds in a work capacity. The Chief of Police quickly realized the talent she has. Jackman entered local contests and gained a following. Veterans are a large part of the audience at any of her performances. They connect with her. Shanna knows this and takes the time to thank them before, during, and after her shows.

Jackman tells her origins as a singer and how she travels to Nashville to record. Jackman also shares what it is like traveling to work and how her New England background still manages to sneak into the recording booth. Many readers may be surprised that the New England area has a strong country music following. Jackman reveals how talent local to New England finds ways to broaden the connection of country music in their communities. The secret must be out, Darius Rucker will use Shanna Jackman as one of his opening acts when he visits New Hampshire.

We are delighted to announce that Nancy Beaudette has three new song awards!! SAW proudly presents the Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (MASC) to help songwriters receive recognition for their work and to further excellence in songwriting through education. Founded in 1983, MASC is one of the longest-running contests in the United States, and attracts entries from around the world. Nancy was the only entrant this year to have multiple songs selected by the judges.

Nancy Beaudette Showcases In Austin

SWRFA 2015 — Nancy Beaudette, Mark Viator, Susan Maxey, Rob Lytle

The 16th annual Southwest Folk Alliance Conference was held September 23rd to 27th in Austin, Texas, and artists, songwriters and presenters from far and wide gathered to celebrate music and friendship. Nancy was chosen as an Official Artist to showcase in the Alternates Round on Thursday evening, joining an esteemed line up of talent, and setting the tone to what would be a brilliant weekend of performances all around.

Even though the Thursday night jamming went into the wee hours of the morning, the Elm Room was filled on Friday morning for Nancy’s workshop, “Envisioning The Life You Want”. Its focus was on creating a five year plan, creating the change necessary to achieve goals all the while being mindful of the unique gift each and everyone of us brings to the world. Lively discussion ensued and even a few touching tears were shed by attendees.

Moonlit Pond Records sincerely commends and thanks the SWRFA team for producing a top notch, heart rousing, awe inspiring conference! We’ll be back!

A virtue of the independent music scene is the joy in discovering artists for which the act of creating music is a deeply personal art. Nancy Beaudette, who hails from Cornwall, Ontario, but has made a name for herself in Central Massachusetts, is one such singer-songwriter. With South Branch Road, her eighth release, Beaudette’s homespun tales are the most fully realized of her nearly three-decade career.

The gorgeous title track, where the gentle strums of an acoustic guitar frame Beaudette’s elegant ode to her childhood, is a perfect example:
